“To live a rich life, we have to be in contact with our inner world.” - Carl Jung

I have training and incorporate Sand Tray Therapy in my work with clients.  Sand Tray Therapy is a form of expressive therapy that invites one to construct a world or scene by placing miniature figures and objects in sand. The scene created can reflect aspects of one’s own life and may provide an opportunity to address conflicts, challenges or possibilities.

Therapists using a Sand Tray therapy approach can incorporate various theoretical orientations (i.e. Gestalt, Jungian, Humanistic). A therapist using this approach may witness the creation of the Sand Tray world or become more actively involved in facilitating the process. The builder of the tray may be able to more fully express in sand the things they would otherwise not be able to vocalize or address in talk therapy.

Sand Tray therapy is highly therapeutic for children, adolescents and adults.  In addition to being interesting and creative, this modality can offer a safe and contained means to work through situations and issues.  Grief, trauma and life transitions are just a few examples of some of the areas that using Sand Tray Therapy can be healing and effective.
